Fall's hidden blessing

Monday, October 24, 2016

Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year, and I get overly zealous with plans to make caramel apples, carve pumpkins, and do all the other million cozy things with my family. Well so far, none of these things have happened this fall. In fact, the one weekend we went apple picking, it turned out to be the last day of the season and there were no more apples on the trees when we arrived. #momfail

This weekend, I also had these grandiose plan to bake and make with my kids and then Saturday night I came down with a horrible mastitis. I was so sick all Saturday night and the whole day Sunday. Once again, I wasn't able to do any of the fun things I planned with my kids but it turned out to be such a blessing in disguise. This time to rest and to take care of myself was what this season was calling for instead. My girls and Mike spent the whole day serving me and making sure I got all the rest I needed. I slept most of the day, and it was just what I needed the most. Although I woke up today still in achy pain, I never thought I'd actually be grateful for mastitis. But, if anything was going to slow me down, that is what it was going to take.

So sometimes, life gives you lemons (even in your favorite season) and you can still make lemonades out of them.

PS: the picture was from a couple weeks ago on our "apple picking" day. :)
